Sunday Sermon: Your Destiny Has A Recognizable Voice, April 26, 2020
Sunday Sermon at Gratefule Church (UPCI) in Phoenix
Your Destiny Has A Recognizable Voice
Mark 5:15-20; 6:53-56
Mark 5:15-20 - And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
Mark 6:53-56
53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret and drew to the shore.
54 And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him, - (Text: Destiny has a recognizable voice)
55 And ran through that whole region round about and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.
Destiny is a collection of the stories of Jesus written on the canvas of live experiences and struggles
The story of Jesus needs a platform to tell it and God is using your live experiences to bring solutions and inspire hope in people – Eph 2:10 – we are God’s workmanship …
People are seeking for solutions, will recognize it, and are attracted to interesting solutions that meet their needs
Your success story is a gift of God to inspire hope and solve problems
Rev 12:11 – Satan is defeated by our claims on victory of the old rugged cross in our struggles. - This is the story of our success
Our destinies (struggles) are interconnected with our missions:
The attraction of the D-man’s is the hope his story inspired in sick people. They saw deliverance in Jesus through the light of his testimonies that drown their fears
Isa 12:3 - With joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
There is no flock without a shepherd, nor a shepherd without flock. If you:
Do not have a story, you have no mission or ministry. D-man had one
Do not tell your story, you have no voice. The D-man found his voice, strength, and gift
If people listen to your story, you have found your calling or mission
If they follow you, you have found your flock and your gift
John 10: 25-27: - Jesus answered them, … the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Destiny has recognizable voices. These voices are our (a) personal story, (b) gifts, and (c), personality designed to make the story of Jesus meaningful for the people we are to reach.
