Sunday Sermon: Sow The Right Seeds, January 3rd, 2020

Sunday Sermon at The Grateful Church (UPCI) in Phoenix

Sow The Right Seeds

The concept of sowing and reaping displays God’s grace, generosity, and goodness in bringing exponential rewards of joy, fulfillment, success, etc. out of a simple scarify. Reaping good harvest involves the process of sowing the right seeds over a long time. God uses this principle to (a) reveal our actions are consequential, (b) bestow His blessings upon us, and (c), establish the correlation between what we sow and what we reap. The implication is that today's efforts will father tomorrow’s blessings and likewise, today's problems are the children of our past actions/decisions. Let us sow the right seed for the right reasons.

Eccl 11:4-12:3

4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

7 Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:

8 But if a man lives many years and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.

9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

Ps 126:5-6

5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Gal 6:7-10

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

What we sow?

  1. The word of God

  2. Time and talents

  3. Financial resources

Power of the seed we sow

  1. Seeds are faithful, reliable to produce, and have new life in itself

  2. Powerful to push through the dirt and overcome obstacles on the way

  3. Faithful to produce exponential growth after its kind

  4. Have a prophetic significance and impact in death. Christ endures the cross for the glory

The purposes of sowing

  1. To grow and multiply in harvest

  2. Increase capacity and dominance. The weeds seek for dominance over the wheat

  3. To discover God’s goodness, generosity, and blessing

We must be intentional when we sow because seeds are consequential

  1. Sow base on your ideas, ideals, and dreams. Work backwards from your dreams to sow the right seed

  2. When we chose a seed, we also chose the consequences because we reap more than we sow whether good or bad

  3. We reap later because seeds bloom at different times and respond differently in different environment. The soil does not discriminate rather will produce what we sow.

  4. We are to sow consistently and diligently
