Sunday Sermon: Overflow, November 22nd, 2020

Sunday Sermon at the Grateful Church (UPCI) in Phoenix

"Overflow"

The significance of our struggles is how they benefits our faith, working out patience and overflowing joy that drown fears and doubts. The overflow is a consequence of the knowledge, understanding, and wisdom we gain in the process that: (a) God reigns over our circumstances Ps 23:5, (b) we are never alone when we feel alone in our struggles – Ps.23:.4, and (c), He guides us with the best solution to overcome our struggles- Ps 23:1-3. These revelations fortify our faith with full assurance of God’s love and mercy to a degree that we could serve Him without fear or peers’ intimidation. This overflow of our cups provokes unparalleled devotion towards God and His services. Reading from the text as king David shared his experiences

Ps 23:1-6

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Miracle at your door: - This miracle of overflow is at our steps and can be ours if we are open minded to receive it, ask for it, or seek after it.

Ps 24:7-9

7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Rev 3:20

20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Filled to overflow

Like Peter in Acts 12:11-17, Jesus is at the door of our minds knocking, if we will hear the voice of His word preached, believe it, and let Him in: He will be with us, walk with us in our struggles, and reign over your situations. He will lead us toward the best solution to overcome our struggle.

In Acts 12:11-17, Peter was an answered prayer at the door knocking to be let in.

  1. It is time to quit praying when your miracle is at the door and you can hear the voice. Rhoda disrupted their prayer meeting and challenged them to go open the door, the door of their minds and faith to look

  2. When the door of faith is open in our hearts and mind, the word of God walks-in in flesh and tangible form. When Rhoda heard Peter’s voice, she was filled to overflow with joy because she believed it was Peter at the door, though she had not seen him physically.

  3. If you can be open minded, open the door, and give God a chance the answers to your prayers will walk right in.

  4. The door of unbelieve is a barrier and a wall between us and our miracles. Do not seat at the door of indecision wondering what to do, just believe and open the door, there is an overwhelming joy waiting for you if you do.
