Sunday Sermon: Jesus in Your Hometown, April 5th 2020
Updated: Aug 11, 2020
Sunday Sermon at Grateful Church in Phoenix
Mark 11:1-10; Zech 9:9
Our world is under sieged by an invisible army like in the days of Israelites, but we sing Hosanna, blessed be he who’s coming is just, with salvation in His hand.
Like the donkey, (a) He is slow to anger and approachable. (b) His temperament is mild, of service, suffering, peace, and (c), humility, riding on donkey to counter a horse with worldly pomp used by kings and rulers to reveal:
His value for the souls of men than positions or titles of honor
The donkey he rode never worked in its life, tie up at a crossroad contrary to the assumption that God use only busy people. He paid all the workers the same regardless when they started
He left the 99 for the one and never leaves the one behind.
Like donkey, He is approachable and rules with love as opposed to wipe
In past weeks Jesus swapped the grave with Lazarus, brought Zacchaeus back to church, and restore the sight the blind man
The crowd swapped the clothes on their back with that of Jesus on the cross as a gesture of good-will, joy, and peace
In service, He drives out the selfishness of men to make the temple of our body His house of prayer. Like the coronavirus, Jesus is in your hometown
Hosanna: “Save now, rescue now, or Savior” 2 Chro 7:14. If we pray and turn form our selfish ways, He will hear and heal
There are those who saw Jesus as the solution, and others who saw Him as a threat and rebel. But he died for both groups
Hos 6:1-3:
Come and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
But How do we return to the Lord?
Acts 2:38 gave a clear direction, repent, be baptize in the name of JESUS and be filled with the Holy Ghost
