God Looks For Faith To Reveal His Power: Sunday Sermon, May 23rd, 2021

Sunday Sermon at the Grateful Church (UPCI) in Phoenix

God Looks For Faith To Reveal His Power

A crippled faith cannot receive the blessings because it is not capable to, neither would anyone in his right mind allow termites to destroy his home. Sin is sickness to the spirit and sickness is a sin to the body. Jesus would not allow it, hence took away the reproaches of sin, sickness, and disease that disfigure humans. Sin and diseases steal our health, freedoms, peace, joy, beauties, monies, and abilities. Jesus is our brazen serpent in the wilderness for perfect deliverance. To look up to Jesus is to give attention, heed, audience, and full consideration to His word with confidence. This is how to get healed or receive a blessing. It is through faith in His name. The text

Luke 5:17-21

17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.

19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

God looks for faith to manifest His power and the absence makes the power invisible.

Luke 18:8 - I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Our attention should be on Jesus as opposed to the symptoms of the disease for perfect deliverance. Eg: Al Loza’s healing

Absolute Power:

The seed power is absolute power because Satan cannot stop it. When we believe the word, a seed of faith is planted. It will grow and produce. It is God’s law

Matt 9:22 – woman with the issue of blood

22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Mark 10:52 – heal the blind.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way.

Luke 7:50 – the publican or sinner

50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

Luke 17:19 _ 10 lepers

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

Luke 18:42 – healing the blind man.

42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

Corporate faith:

Mt 9:20

20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

Matt 15:28 – the Syrophoenician woman

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

What is faith and how do we assess the value to us? -

  1. Faith is the confidence that our prayers are heard, and our hopes are fulfilled.

1 John 5:14-15

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us:

15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

  1. The Value of faith is on what it rests on. A promise is only as good as the man who gave it. If the man is trustworthy, the value of the check will hold, and our hopes will not be disappointed. We did not see the money in the bank, yet we believe, act on it, and pay our bills by faith. Without faith, it is impossible to carry out any transaction with God – Heb 11:6.

What if we do not believe?

  1. Unbelieve is evil and a departure from God’s will for us. Heb 3:12

  2. It is a preoccupation with the symptoms of our diseases, imaginations, and thoughts of our sins.

Jonah 2:8-10

8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

  1. It cripples faith, Abraham avoided believing to receive the promises - Rom 4:20

James 1:6-8

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he, that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7 For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.

8 A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Matt 17:19-20

19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief:

Matt 13:58

58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

We conclude that the word of God has value if we can only believe and trust Him. God looks for faith to reveal His power - 2 Chron 16:9. He gave us a check for our healing and salvation. If we trust Him, we will cash the check, and act on it to pay our debts. If do not trust Him, it will be hard to do business with the Lord – Heb 11:6
